When CIA agent Ethan Renner learns he is dying, he decides to go to Paris where his estranged wife and daughter live and reconnect with them. His wife gives him a chance, but his daughter is another story. When his wife leaves town for a few days, he offers to look after their daughter. He promises his wife that he's out of the spy business (which is true), but a woman named Vivi approaches him and wants him back to help find an elusive terrorist. In exchange, she offers Ethan a new drug that might combat his cancer and give him more days with his family. He agrees, working his assignment while also finding time for his daughter and battling side-effects of the drug.
Dying of brain cancer, a dangerous international spy is determined to give up his high stakes life to finally build a closer relationship with his estranged wife and daughter, whom he's previously kept at arm's length to keep out of danger; but first, he must complete one last mission - even if it means juggling the two toughest assignments yet: hunt down the world's most ruthless terrorist and look after his teenage daughter for the first time in ten years while his wife is out of town.
Action-Packed, Crisp & Entertaining at most parts, '3 Days to Kill' is a winner for its genre, with an Engrossing Performance by Kevin Costner.

'3 Days to Kill' Synopsis: A dying CIA agent trying to reconnect with his estranged daughter is offered an experimental drug that could save his life in exchange for one last assignment.

'3 Days to Kill' mixes stunning action-sequences with family emotions. And luckily, the mixture is nicely divided & interconnected in the narrative.

Luc Besson & Adi Hasak's Screenplay is good, but clichéd. No doubt '3 Days to Kill' is fun, but its a predictable film nevertheless. McG's Direction is stylized. Action-Sequences are awesome. Cinematography & Editing are average.

Performance-Wise: Kevin Costner leads '3 Days to Kill'. He's at his aging best! Hailee Steinfeld is fantastic. Her scenes with Costner stand out. Connie Nielsen is controlled. Amber Heard is passable. Marc Andréoni is tremendously funny in a bit role.

On the whole, Grab some Popcorn & enjoy '3 Days to Kill'. The human element puts this action flick above the average fare in this genre, and there sure is a lot of that average fare nowadays.

"3 Days to Kill" IS full of clichés, it IS improbable, and it certainly isn't a perfect effort.....BUT Kevin Costner is great, and the three female leads are quite good too. The action sequences are solid, and the film really gets better as it goes, ending on quite the high note. Its a cross between "Charlie Countryman" and "Red". The humor really says that it doesn't take itself too seriously, and if u can sit back and just enjoy a popcorn flick, you'll probably like it. Also reminds me of Jack Reacher. It's nearly as good as "Reacher", a clear step down from the thoroughly entertaining "Countryman", but I did like this more than the original "Red", and about even with the sequel.

Give it a chance, and stick with it.

Defo better than I expected. Perhaps a bit under-rated on the score here. It's a low 7 for me, but the father-daughter relationship thing(+other human elements)and the humor edged-it there. Won't make my top-25 list for the year, but I can give it a marginal recommendation. Heck, there's not much else that's new and decent at the redbox, so roll-the-dice.

65/100 3 Days to Kill might not be art, but it's better than most of the overtly violent action fare that litters the multiplexes these days, thanks largely to the fact that its heart is almost as big as its explosions.
Even though Besson's work are usually shot based on the viewing habits of an European audience and then being censored for the more lucrative "PG-13" rating, 3 Days to Kill has written "PG-13" all over it from the very beginning. Sure, there has been released obligatory Unrated Version but additional violence can barely be found. The most significant censored scene is the one at the strip club. Other than that, the differences usually affect the story or dialogs. To get an impression of the movie, the Theatrical Version will do the trick because the 5 minutes of new footage could be called anything but elementary. Nonetheless, one would rather watch the most complete version of a movie.

Apart from the Extended Cut that is 5 minutes longer, there's an unexpected third version of the film.(e.g. on the German and French Blu-ray).
