Daddy is an upcoming Indian political crime drama film co-written and directed by Ashim Ahluwalia. The film stars Arjun Rampal, who also co-wrote the film, portraying gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli. The official teaser of the film was released on December 1, 2016.
From the rough streets and back alleys of Central Mumbai comes the sensational true story of Arun Gawli, a man who scripted his own destiny, eventually going on to become one of India's most feared gangsters. Today he remains an enigmatic figure; at once a volatile, power-hungry criminal for some and the respected "Daddy" or a modern day Robin Hood for the working-class neighborhood he belongs to. Daddy follows the intertwined fates of the world-weary Gawli as he attempts to enter politics and a frustrated Police inspector with a secret history of his own. An unfolding jigsaw puzzle, told from different points-of-view and spanning over four decades, Daddy is an unforgettable excursion into the Mumbai underworld.
The movie is average or can say as OK not too good not too bad.But yes the direction was really very bad.The screenplay was also bad The editing was slow.The songs were OK.And the movie is slow and gets a lil blring a times.The story is good.And now comes to the acting Arjun Rampal acted good.The role of the gangster is nicely played by him.So guys I don't recommends you to watch this movie.It's upto you If you want to see this movie then only go for this.Otherwise don't go.My ratings 5 outta 10.My suggestion= your opinion.
It's hard to decide what was worse - the story or Arjun Rampal's performance.

The story is told partly through flashbacks, and partly through present day action. One person's flashback leads into another's and quite soon you don't know if you are in the present or a flashback. It's very confusing and takes the viewer out of the film. The flashbacks don't seem to add any value other than tell us how Gawli has been wronged and isn't all that bad. The fact that we need to be told rather than seeing for ourselves just about sums up the screenplay's shortcomings.

Arjun Rampal cannot act. He should really stop trying. Mercifully, Farhan Akhtar wasn't required to act. Between the oversize sunglasses and the oblique camera angles, we didn't have to see much of his face or his attempts at acting.

Production design was great. Supporting cast, especially Nishikant Kamat were great. That made the film just about watchable.
